Authorities reported a tragic incident where an unresponsive man was pulled from the waters of Manhattan and declared drowned on Saturday evening. The water rescuers were unable to save the man’s life.
According to police sources, a 28-year-old man was swept away by the current while attempting to cool off from the scorching New York City sun. His body was found near 218th Street and Indian Road.
As the search for the missing man continued, the waters were being scoured by three boats and a helicopter. The Citizen app provided footage of divers being dispatched into the waters, adding to the efforts to locate the individual.
Upon arrival at NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, the man, aged 28, was pronounced deceased on site.
The man’s identity remains unknown to the police at this time.
