In Dallas on Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris held a campaign rally amid ongoing speculation among some Democratic leaders in Congress about whether President Biden should run for another term in four years.
Before a massive audience of members from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the oldest and biggest Black sorority in the country, the Vice President delivered a speech.
At their Dallas convention, the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority sisters cordially greeted Kamala Harris, a fellow sorority sister, donning their signature colors of salmon pink and apple green.
Harris expressed her joy, saying “My heart is full.”
In her address, she highlighted the efforts made by her and Mr. Biden to enhance the availability of reasonably priced healthcare to women. The measures include better access for new mothers and capping the cost of insulin for the elderly.
A new national health and safety standard for new mothers has been announced by Harris.
According to the vice president, every hospital in the country will soon be obligated to furnish new mothers with delivery rooms that contain all the necessary medical equipment to save their lives.
However, she noted that even with this progress, the Republican party still poses a threat to the country.
“We are currently witnessing a relentless attack on the freedoms and rights that we have struggled to attain and uphold throughout our country.”
She highlighted that reproductive or abortion rights are among the key issues.
Harris expressed her criticism towards Donald Trump, the former President and the anticipated Republican nominee.
Harris emphasized the importance of comprehending the events that led up to the current situation. According to her, the three members of the Supreme Court were appointed by then-President Donald Trump with the intention of overturning Roe v Wade, and that is exactly what happened. Harris believes that it is not the government’s place to dictate what a woman can or cannot do with her own body.
As Trump’s poll numbers rise, especially in the crucial battleground states where the election will be decided, the vice president’s visit to Dallas takes on added significance.
According to recent polls, Trump has received higher ratings than Mr. Biden and Harris when it comes to the issues that Americans consider the most significant, such as inflation, the economy, and border security.
While Harris didn’t address the worries expressed by some Democrats about President Biden’s performance after the June 27 debate, her speech resonated with women like Alexier Barbour, a sorority member from Dallas. Barbour shared, “I was genuinely touched by her words.”
One individual who has a message for Democratic leaders urging President Biden to drop out of the race is Barbour.
Barbour urged for a rethinking of the suggestion to appoint a new candidate as the president’s replacement.
When questioned about her allegiance to Biden, Barbour affirmed her unwavering support, stating, “I am standing by him.” She emphasized the importance of not veering away from their current path, asserting that “it would be a mistake for us to pivot at this point.”
Reyanna Davis, a San Francisco sorority member, concurred.
Davis praised the team’s outstanding efforts, stating, “The work they have been doing is truly remarkable, and I believe we should continue to build on their success.”
Harris encouraged her fellow sorority sisters to back their reelection.
Harris stated that she firmly believes that this election is the most significant and critical one of our lives, with existential consequences.
As she made her way off the stage, her supporters erupted into a chant of “four more years!” in a show of unwavering loyalty.
As Vice President Biden prepared to depart on Air Force 2 for the return trip to Washington, the pooled press from various networks shouted out questions regarding whether or not he should resign. However, there was no response from the Vice President to the queries.
Over 20,000 members of sororities have registered for the convention in Dallas, which is set to conclude on Thursday.
