Gunshots captured on camera following a robbery at a gas station

On Sunday night, a driver was robbed at a gas station in Southwest Memphis, which was captured on video surveillance.

The police reported that a Chevron gas station on East Shelby Drive was the location of a robbery and attempted carjacking, which occurred just after 9:30 p.m.

As the driver was returning to his car after retrieving something from the Chevron store, a man holding a gun can be seen running up to him in the video.

As the victim’s pockets were being rifled through, the suspect can be seen attempting to steal from him. In response, the victim drew his firearm. It is unclear from the footage whether anyone was injured by the exchanged gunfire between the suspect and victim.

Sherika Johnson, a shopper at the gas station, expressed her fear and shock upon witnessing the incident, stating “That’s scary to me. Like that’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like that.” She also added that while it’s good that the person in question was cautious and had protection, nobody should have to live their life in constant fear like that.

Two other men were waiting inside a silver Chevy Impala as the suspect made his way back to the vehicle.

The investigation is still ongoing and no arrests have been made as of yet.
