Fatal crash on 240th Street near Lathrop claims life of 59-year-old Lathrop driver

On November 10, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., a tragic accident took place on eastbound 240th Street, about five miles southeast of Lathrop, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 59-year-old man from Lathrop, Missouri, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier when the vehicle veered off the road, hitting a guardrail, overturning, and ultimately crashing into a tree. The car ended up on its passenger side, off the south side of the road.

Tragically, the driver, who had neglected to wear a seat belt, lost their life in the accident. Clinton County Coroner Lee Hanks arrived at the scene and officially pronounced the driver deceased at 5:00 p.m. Scotty’s towing service was called in to remove the severely damaged Chevrolet Cavalier from the scene.

The accident response involved the collaboration of Corporal J.J. Thompson, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, and the Lathrop Police Department.
