Woman from Grandview arrested after a pursuit

After helping the Miami County Sheriff’s Office chase down a stolen car, a Cass County Sheriff’s Office officer successfully deployed the grappler yesterday, shortly after 11 a.m. Dispatch had alerted deputies to the pursuit just minutes earlier as it was moving east near State Route 58.

At the junction of State Route D and 187th St., the Cass County deputy installed a tire deflation apparatus. The person who was operating the car struck the gadget but kept going.

After launching the device, the deputy managed to grasp the suspect car and catch up to the pursuit. In Belton, the motorist was arrested close to the intersection of State Route D and State Route 58.

She has been identified as Grandview resident Carrie Jeter, 35. When Jeter was arrested, there was an active Cass County warrant against her.

Since then, Jeter has been charged with aggravated fleeing from a stop or detention (D Felony), first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle (D Felony), and operating a motor vehicle in a reckless and imprudent manner (B minor).

The amount of her cash-only bond is $50,000.
