Trump sues CBS News for $10 billion over Kamala Harris interview

Donald Trump is suing CBS News for $10 billion, claiming that the network illegally influenced the 2024 presidential election by manipulating an interview with his opponent Kamala Harris.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Texas, charges CBS of “attempting to tip the scales” in favor of the Democratic nominee and engaging in “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion calculated to… confuse, deceive, and mislead the public.

His legal team filed the complaint in a federal court in Amarillo, and he nominated a judge to hear it. Any appeal of the case’s ruling would be sent to an appellate court in Louisiana, which is predominately composed of conservative justices who have frequently supported legal challenges supported by Republicans.

The Republican District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, whom Trump nominated to the bench, is expected to hear a lawsuit from Trump, who resides in Florida and is suing a New York-based business that was founded in Delaware. Notably, Judge Kacsmaryk decided to revoke government approval of a commonly used abortion medication and restored Trump’s so-called “remain in Mexico” program. The Supreme Court invalidated both rulings.

Trump has requested a jury trial and a $10 billion damages award.
