2 Dead And 2 Hospitalized With Carbon Monoxide Poisoning In Freedom

Two individuals have lost their lives, and two others have been hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning following a leak in Freedom, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

About 6:04 a.m. on Tuesday, first responders arrived at the scene at 555 Belfast Road.

The caller reported a suspected propane leak and that there were four people inside the house.

Inside, two adults’ bodies were discovered.

The Waldo County General Hospital received two more patients.

Police are currently investigating the incident, but they think an improperly ventilated propane-fired boiler caused it.

An investigation into illegal marijuana cultivation led to a raid on the same address in May.

Investigators say they discovered and dismantled a large marijuana cultivation enterprise with over 1,900 live plants during the search.
