Linda Stanley, the district attorney who filed charges against Barry Morphew, suspected of killing his wife Suzanne, will be barred before her appeal is considered, according to a Colorado Appeals Court judge.
Last month, the Colorado Supreme Court’s disciplinary commission determined that Stanley violated attorney behavior guidelines while prosecuting two cases. Stanley contested the ruling, stating that she intended to finish her term, which would have expired on January 14, 2025.
One of these cases was filed against Barry Morphey.
In connection with his wife Suzanne Morphew’s disappearance, which he reported missing in 2020, Morphew faced prosecution.
In 2022, a judge prevented prosecutors from introducing key witnesses, leading to the dismissal of the charges against Barry Morphew. The judge claimed it was because prosecutors failed to follow the requirements for turning over evidence in his favor.
In September of 2023, researchers discovered Suzanne Morphew’s remains in Saguache County.
