Harris and Trump campaigns target Black voters in coastal Georgia.

The Congressional Black Caucus commenced their swing state bus tour for the Harris-Walz campaign in Savannah on Friday morning.

As the election approaches, both candidates are making efforts to rally voters in key swing states, such as Georgia.

Their main focus is to connect with minority voters in the state, as they play a crucial role in several counties.

Both candidates’ campaigns are putting in a lot of effort to secure Black votes in Savannah and the surrounding area, considering that more than half of the population identifies as Black, according to the most recent U.S. Census data. As Chatham is one of the larger counties in Georgia, it holds significant importance in garnering support from the Black community.

According to a recent poll conducted by the Howard University Initiative on Public Opinion, 82% of Black voters in swing states are in favor of Harris. The data reveals that only eight percent of Black voters support Trump, while another eight percent remain undecided.

According to the September edition of the poll, there seems to be a demographic that believes Trump is gaining ground on Harris: Black men. Surprisingly, over 20% of Black males under 50 stated that they would vote for Trump.

State Representative Steven Sainz (GA-180) emphasizes that minority communities were faring better during the Trump administration compared to the current Biden-Harris administration. In his view, this reality holds more weight than any campaign talking point.

“Take reports claiming that black males are distancing themselves from Kamala Harris with a grain of salt,” advised Representative Hank Johnson (GA-4). “I firmly believe that black men will continue to show their unwavering support for this remarkable black woman, just as we have done in the past for Democrats.”

Earlier this week, Harris unveiled an opportunity agenda for Black men.

According to Rep. Steven Horsford, Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, our Vice President has discussed several important initiatives. These include plans to construct three million homes, increase housing affordability, support small businesses by providing greater access to resources, and invest in a diverse group of educators, with a particular focus on black male teachers.

The Trump campaign expresses their confidence, highlighting similar priorities.
