Ohio semi-truck driver charged following a cocaine bust on the highway

An Ohio semi-truck driver has been detained and charged after state authorities discovered cocaine in his vehicle while on the interstate.

On October 11, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stopped Carlos Alberto Jovel’s semi-truck near Mile Marker 74 on I-70 EB in Madison County.

Troopers found “multiple discrepancies” in Jovel’s log book, and a K-9 unit detected the stench of drugs, according to authorities.

Troopers uncovered 15 brick-shaped bundles of cocaine totaling 17.182 kilograms when checking the semi-truck’s sleeping section.
