Volunteers from Alabama, who are currently assisting in the recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene, are now preparing to extend their support to those affected by Hurricane Milton.
Approximately 40 Red Cross volunteers from our region are currently stationed in Florida, where they have been assisting individuals in their recovery from the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene for the past two weeks. In a remarkable display of dedication, these volunteers will now embark on a journey further south to lend their support to the relief efforts in Milton. Their tasks will include distributing hot meals and providing essential supplies such as trash bags, flashlights, and tarps, among other necessary items.
The American Red Cross, along with several other organizations, is working tirelessly to assist the residents of Florida in rebuilding their lives.
“Regrettably, many people are experiencing significant property damage and loss of belongings, leaving them without a safe place to stay. Additionally, there are prolonged power outages expected in certain neighborhoods for weeks. Despite these challenges, we are committed to providing support and relief to affected communities. Annette Rowland from the American Red Cross of Alabama/Mississippi emphasized the ongoing distribution of relief supplies in neighborhoods affected by Hurricane Helene, and stated that the same efforts will be extended to those impacted by Hurricane Milton.”
Red Cross volunteers not only offer their assistance in times of crisis, but they also serve as licensed counselors, providing invaluable mental health support and emotional guidance.
