At a rally in Florida on Tuesday, Barron Trump managed to steal some of the spotlight from his father as he received a standing ovation from the crowd.
The ex-president praised his youngest son, a recent graduate of West Palm Beach Oxbridge Academy, with admiration. Despite staying away from the media spotlight, the former president expressed his admiration by saying, “What a young man! He’s a very special guy.”
Trump boasted that Barron has been accepted to all the colleges he wanted to attend and will be starting college in the fall. However, he quickly shifted his tone to one of emotional manipulation, comparing his children to characters from “The Hunger Games” and insinuating that Barron is now his favorite son.
In Trump’s own words, “I can’t call them boys, but to me, he is my boy. In fact, they’re all my boys, you know? It’s like when you have sons, no matter how old they are, they’re always going to be your boy.”
As Trump spotted Barron in the crowd, he gestured towards him and encouraged him to stand up, saying, “You’re quite the popular one, Barron. You might even be more popular than Don and Eric. We’ll have to discuss this later.”
Barron was chosen by the Florida GOP to serve as an at-large delegate at the Republican National Convention in July. However, he later decided to withdraw from the position due to “prior commitments.”
“This week, my son made his first campaign appearance and I must say, his life has changed a little bit,” Trump commented on the previous easy-going lifestyle of his son.”
