Chief: Ex-Convicts from Florida Caught in Ridgefield Park Traffic Stop with Runaway Girls and Loaded Guns

Ridgefield Park officer Lavrone Green stopped a Penske truck in the westbound lanes near the I-95 ramp at 11:35 a.m. on Sunday, October 6, according to Chief Joseph Rella.

With the assistance of Sgt. Nicholas Triano, Ptl. Marco, and Ptl. Anthony D’Elia, Green conducted an investigation and identified the males as Freddie Lynum, 35, and Lamount Cushion, 27, both of Gainesville, Florida. Rella said the men were making a delivery in New York when they picked up two runaway girls on their way north through Virginia.

Rella further mentioned that Lynum is a former criminal.

According to Rella, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit assisted in the vehicle search, which turned up a loaded Glock 19 with a high-capacity magazine, stolen hollow point bullets, a loaded KSRC Ruger handgun with a defaced serial number, several small zip-loc bags containing a brown powder substance, and various drug paraphernalia.

The charges against Lynum included unlawful possession of a handgun (2), possession of hollow point bullets, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, endangering the welfare of a child, and receiving stolen property.

Cushion was charged for the following offenses: unlawful possession of a pistol, possession of hollow-point bullets, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and prohibition on the possession of firearms by certain individuals. The charges also included endangering the welfare of a child, obtaining stolen property, dispensing prescription drugs, and possessing CDS.

We took Lynum and Cushion to the Bergen County Jail without incident. The DCPP assumed custody of the female children.
