A Virginia woman who called her family to tell them she struck at the casino had to call back to report winning a $50,000 jackpot from the Maryland Lottery. The Alexandria woman told Maryland Lottery officials that she went to a casino but won only a modest amount on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket. She called her folks to convey her terrible luck before leaving the casino.
The woman stated that she stopped at the Arundel Mills Exxon station in Hanover after leaving and chose to use her lottery winnings to purchase another ticket.
The ticket for a $500,000 Crossword game ended up winning $50,000.
The woman explained that she had to phone her relatives again to let them know that her luck had improved.
The winner stated that she will use her prize money to pay bills, donate to charity, and save for the future.
