On Saturday, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) stated that while Democrats may not always agree with President Joe Biden, they share a common fear of another Trump administration.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s The Katie Phang Show, Representative Crockett, who represents parts of Dallas, discussed President Biden’s recent one-on-one interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. Host Katie Phang introduced the conversation by playing clips from the interview that featured several prolonged pauses from the president the night before.
Although five House Democrats have urged Biden to withdraw from the race, Crockett is standing by him. Crockett believes that the voters have already spoken through the Democratic presidential primaries held this year.
Crockett firmly believes that the current Democratic ticket is composed of Biden and Harris. As long as the President affirms his ability to fulfill his duties, Crockett is supportive of the ticket. He emphasizes the importance of the democratic process and reminds us that going against the will of the people based on polls is not in line with democratic values.
During a recent conversation, the freshman representative expressed their belief that polling results would have prevented Trump from becoming president. They also noted that Democrats wouldn’t have overperformed by 20 points in several elections over the past few years if polling accurately reflected election outcomes.
Crockett not only rejected the Democratic Party’s demand for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race but also shed light on the reasons behind it. She pointed out that the Democrats are worried about President Biden’s statement last month regarding the possibility of two Supreme Court justice vacancies within the next four years. Additionally, the Democrats have expressed their concerns about Project 2025, a plan developed by The Heritage Foundation for the next conservative administration. These two issues have been the primary cause of the Democrats’ call for Biden to withdraw from the race.
Crockett stated that although Democrats are the ones urging the president to resign, their reasoning is not rooted in their belief that Joe Biden is an inadequate individual or a failure. Rather, it is driven by their apprehension. Regardless of one’s political alignment, the common denominator is fear; fear that Donald Trump may once again occupy the White House.
With less than four months to go until Election Day, Crockett urged Democrats to rally behind the ticket and remain steadfast in their commitment.
She urged everyone to acknowledge the true adversary and refrain from giving Republicans ammunition for the upcoming November elections by attacking one another.
As Biden faces intense criticism over his mental sharpness following a lackluster performance during the first presidential debate, Crockett has weighed in on the matter. Despite doubts expressed by some members of his party about his ability to continue as the nominee or serve another four years as president, Biden has made it clear that he will not be dropping out of the race. Crockett has stated that he unequivocally rules out the possibility of Biden exiting the race.
A recent poll released on Saturday has shown that despite the uncertainty surrounding Biden, he is making progress against Trump in swing states.
