3 New Jersey Teens Arrested After Police Chase Leads to Crash on Garden State Parkway

Three New Jersey minors are in custody following a police chase that ended in a crash on the Garden State Parkway.

The arrested individuals include a 15-year-old from Newark, another 15-year-old from Paterson, and a 16-year-old from Orange.

The incident occurred in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

Paramus police were called to assist in stopping a stolen car.

The Paramus officers spotted the silver Honda Civic on Route 17 and used spike strips to stop it.

Despite losing a wheel, the driver continued to speed, eventually reaching the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway, where the car lost control and flipped off the parkway just south of Exit 159.

Authorities reported that the driver intentionally rammed a police cruiser before crashing into a guardrail and overturning on the grass.

The three occupants were taken into custody and are receiving medical treatment. The 15-year-old driver faces charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, assaulting a police officer, and eluding, while the two passengers are charged with joyriding.

A fourth suspect is still at large.

Although a police cruiser was damaged, no officers were injured.
