Mississippi Governor Approves Bill Allowing Military Families To Select Preferred Schools For Their Kids

Governor Tate Reeves (R-Miss.) signed a bill on Friday that intends to alleviate some of the burdens faced by Mississippi’s military families. WJTV reported this development.

House Bill 1341 has been signed by Reeves, making it possible for the children of active duty military members to enroll in any school of their choosing.

According to the governor, individuals who are training at NAS Meridian often have to relocate from far away, causing a great deal of stress and sacrifice for their families. The bill proposed will allow them to select the most suitable school for their children, which may differ from one family to the next. This small adjustment can alleviate some of the challenges that come with moving to a new community.

Students will have the option to transfer schools once a year, but transportation will not be provided by the school district.
