On Tuesday, a woman from Kansas City was charged with assault after reportedly attacking a Ride KC bus.
Court documents reveal that officers from the Kansas City Missouri Police Department were called to respond to a disturbance report at 1:05 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival at the scene, they found 31-year-old Shaunte Washington handcuffed to a pole inside the bus by a security officer from the Kansas City Area Transport Authority.
The police found a man outside on a bench with bleeding legs and took Washington and another suspect into custody.
According to court documents, the victim has been taken to the hospital and received treatment for his injuries. Thankfully, he is now in stable condition, as confirmed by the police.
On Tuesday, authorities accused Washington, 31, of first-degree assault resulting in significant physical injury and armed criminal action. According to court documents, she stabbed the victim after a fight broke out immediately after boarding the bus. Police detectives got video and audio footage from the bus that shows Washington ranting at a woman and saying, “You’re going to catch these hands.”
After being arrested, the woman from Kansas City, Missouri was detained in jail with a bond set at $75,000. As part of the terms for her release on bond, she is prohibited from riding KCATA buses and possessing any deadly weapons, including knives.
