Indiana Officials Rescue Child After Dupage County Home Invasion

Two men in Indiana have been arrested following a home invasion on Aurora’s east side, which resulted in the abduction of an eight-year-old child. Thankfully, the child has been safely recovered.

On Monday evening, Aurora Police and firefighters responded to a home invasion report in the 2000 block of Cheshire Drive. According to the Aurora Police Department, two individuals forced their way into the residence and injured the homeowners before abducting the youngster. The father, uncle, and grandmother of the child identified the offenders.

Police reports indicate that Lisa C. Bearden, a 58-year-old grandmother, was allegedly discovered by officers in North Aurora with firearms in her vehicle. She has been charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Meanwhile, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana located the males and child involved in the incident. Joshua T. Bearden, 30, and Christopher A. Bearden, 35, are facing home invasion charges and are currently awaiting extradition to Illinois.

In stressing the significance of home safety, particularly for children, Chief Keith Cross commended the joint efforts of various police agencies in guaranteeing the safe return of the child. He firmly stated that “regardless of your relationship with a child, it never gives you the right to intrude into someone else’s home and cause harm.”
