A Man’s Life Saved Mid-Flight by Boy Scouts When He Suffers Cardiac Arrest

During a flight, a man went into cardiac arrest and was saved by a group of Boy Scouts.

PEOPLE reported that a fellow passenger on the flight home from an adventure camp suffered a cardiac arrest, while the Boy Scouts were on board.

During the flight from New Mexico to New York, a flight attendant requested the assistance of any doctors on board when a passenger required medical attention. Luckily, three doctors and a nurse came forward to provide aid. Despite their best efforts in performing CPR on the passenger, the flight was still 40 minutes away from being able to make an emergency landing.

The severity of the situation was acknowledged by Evan Gilder, the leader of the scouts, at this moment.

According to Gilder, performing CPR is an extremely challenging task. In his interview with ABC News, he stated, “CPR is a really, really difficult thing to do. You can do it for a few minutes and you really tire out.”

Gilder enlisted the aid of his scouts when he needed assistance.

At the scene of the emergency, 16-year-old Eagle Scout Ariel Yaron recalled the urgency in the voice of the person in charge, as they shouted, “Boys – everyone who knows CPR training, go! Go! Go!”

The man received CPR for approximately 40 minutes before the plane could safely land. During this time, someone from the flight crew tried to persuade the boys to go back to their seats.

As Gilder recounted, one of the doctors spoke in a calm voice and stated, “If we do that, this patient will die for sure.”

Doctors were able to detect a pulse thanks to their persistent CPR efforts.

Gilder explained that as they were approaching, a pulse was detected.

Yaron expressed his view on the matter, stating that when you or someone close to you goes through such a situation, it becomes a daunting experience as your entire life is now in the hands of just a few Boy Scouts.

As Yaron pondered over his life-saving actions, he felt a sense of pride and humility.

He stated that saving a life is a crucial and fundamental commandment in Judaism. As a Jew, a boy scout, and a responsible citizen, it is essential to fulfill this duty. He feels privileged to have the opportunity to do so.
