On Saturday night, Hannah McKay was crowned as the new Miss Tennessee Volunteer titleholder, representing Miss Tennessee Valley.
McKay, a native of Seymour, Tennessee, expresses that the Volunteer organization holds a special place in her heart. She was awarded $10,000 in scholarship money as a recipient.
She expressed her pride in being a resident of Tennessee and being associated with the organization. Wearing the emblem of the state on her chest holds a special significance for her. Her statement reflects the deep emotional connection she has with the state and the affiliation with the organization.
Having been a pageant contestant since the age of 11, McKay is an experienced participant in the pageant scene. She offers valuable advice to younger individuals who are considering competing in pageants – to have faith in themselves and to embrace the support system that pageants offer.
She said that the worries and doubts in one’s mind that make them think they cannot do it are false, and that is the beauty of pageantry. She added that it is surrounded by strong and empowering women who pour into each other, and pageantry enables individuals to dig deep and find confidence and resilience within themselves.
Miss Tennessee Volunteer, McKay, aims to promote meaningful connections to senior adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia through the power of music. Her platform focuses on “music and memories,” and she plans to continue her advocacy work in this area.
McKay was crowned the winner on the final night of the pageant after making it to the top five. Her talent was on full display as she delivered an incredible vocal performance of Jennifer Hudson’s “The Impossible Dream.”
The scoring system for the competition is divided into four categories, each with a 25% weightage: fitness and wellness, talent, evening gown, and private interview. On Friday evening, McKay emerged as the winner of the Lifestyle and Fitness category in a tie.
Jada Brown has been succeeded by McKay as the new titleholder, who will proudly represent The Volunteer State in the upcoming Miss Volunteer America pageant in 2025.
Miss Rutherford County Volunteer’s very own Alyssa Moore emerged as the winner of the non-finalist talent category.
McKay expressed her strong belief in the immense potential of pageantry for young women, stating that it offers numerous benefits, opportunities, and growth. In her opinion, pageantry is a powerful tool that prepares women to become the next generation of leaders.
