Allen Weisselberg, the ex-CFO of Trump Organization, granted release from Riker’s Island prison

On Friday, after completing 100 days of his five-month sentence for two felony perjury counts, Allen Weisselberg, the former CFO of the Trump organization, was released from Rikers Island jail.

As per the records of New York City inmates, Weisselberg was taken into custody on April 10 and was released on Friday, marking the completion of his second 100-day imprisonment within a span of a year.

On March 4, Weisselberg pleaded guilty to two felony perjury counts. He acknowledged that he deliberately misled investigators by misrepresenting his understanding of the Trump Tower triplex’s size in order to obtain favorable loans.

Before his plea deal was accepted, Weisselberg found himself facing three perjury charges. In a civil case in 2023, both Weisselberg and the Trump Organization were found guilty of business fraud.

In 2023, New York Attorney General Letitia James brought a case against Trump. The court ruled in favor of James and ordered Trump to pay over $450 million, which also included interest, for his involvement in the fraudulent act.

According to prosecutors, Weisselberg’s false statement under oath regarding the size of Trump’s apartment was crucial to James’ investigation into the fraudulent manipulation of property values in the case.

In a 2022 criminal case, Weisselberg was sentenced to five months for tax fraud related to a 15-year illegal tax scheme involving the Trump Organization. As a result, he was ordered to pay nearly $2 million, including penalties, taxes and interest, for illegally avoiding tax on $1.7 million in income.

The Trump Organization paid that income off the books, which consisted of a luxurious apartment, two Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and tuition for Weisselberg’s grandchildren.

Weisselberg admitted to receiving a severance payment of $2 million from the Trump Organization during the criminal fraud case.
