Timing of Weather Pattern Change with Arrival of Cold Front and Severe Storms

According to the latest forecast, the severe system is expected to occur between the mid-afternoon and the middle of the night on Wednesday, July 17th. The most organized storms are anticipated to take place in the early evening, during this time frame.

On Tuesday, July 16, severe storms swept across New York, moving from west to east, causing a State of Emergency to be declared by Governor Kathy Hochul. The dangerous storms left more than 105,000 residents without power, with the majority of the outages occurring in central and northern regions.

Fortunately, the rest of New York in addition to New England were able to avoid the worst of the dangerous storms that made their way eastward on Tuesday.

Governor Hochul expressed her readiness to provide assistance to the localities affected by possible tornado touchdowns in the state. She urged New Yorkers to stay updated with their local forecasts and prepare themselves for the hazardous travel and other impacts caused by the ongoing severe weather.

“The National Weather Service warned on Wednesday that the storms may bring damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph as the primary hazard,” according to their statement.

There is a forecast for rainfall amounts ranging from 1 to 2 inches, which is expected to occur from Wednesday afternoon until around daybreak on Thursday, July 18th.

Expect a day filled with haze, heat, and humidity this Wednesday, with the mercury soaring to the low 90s.

On Thursday, humid air is expected to dissipate and high temperatures will reach the mid-80s following the passage of a cold front. Throughout the day, the skies will gradually transition to mostly sunny.

The weather on Friday, July 19th, is expected to be pleasant with plenty of sunshine and comfortable air. The temperature will range in the mid-70s, providing a perfect day to enjoy outdoor activities.

Expect slightly higher temperatures on July 20th, with highs ranging from 90 degrees and above.

On Sunday, July 21, we can expect mostly sunny skies with the temperature reaching around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
