According to a news release from the Egg Harbor Township police department, Mu Lee, who is 85 years old, was reunited with his family at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17. Staff members at the Green Tree Golf Course had reported him as missing around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16.
According to the Green Tree employees, they expressed their concern to the authorities when they noticed that Lee had been missing for quite some time. Lee was a regular at the golf course and had a habit of playing alone.
Employees contacted the authorities after Lee’s cellphone and other belongings were discovered in a golf cart close to the woods. Although he was known to take strolls in wooded areas, the fact that his cart remained in the same spot for several hours raised concerns.
In the search for Lee, the Coast Guard, state police, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office utilized both air and land resources. Despite facing severe thunderstorms, K-9 teams from Egg Harbor Township, along with the sheriff’s offices from Atlantic and Cape May counties, bravely ventured deep into the woods to locate Lee.
As additional crews from Atlantic and Camden counties were getting ready to participate in the search, Lee was discovered at Hidden Creek Golf Club, located about a mile away from Green Tree through the woods. Lee revealed that he had spent the entire night walking in the woods and had arrived at Hidden Creek just before the rescuers spotted him.
According to reports, Lee was in good health and high spirits despite his ordeal in the scorching heat and fierce storms. However, the paramedics from Egg Harbor Township took him to the hospital for a medical evaluation to ensure that he was okay.
The police department conveyed its heartfelt appreciation for the response and genuine team collaboration that led to the remarkable reunion of Mr. Lee with his family. As stated in their release, the community exhibited exceptional unity and perseverance until he was located.
The scene was attended by firefighters from Egg Harbor Township, Scullville, and Bargaintown, with support from Hamilton Township police. Additionally, the department’s dive team was put on standby to assist.
During the search, emergency officials were accompanied by Lee’s family and a Green Tree employee at the course.
