A Kansas City man is facing second-degree murder charges after using his SUV to fatally run over a man he believed was trying to rob him.

Anthony Milligan, 55, is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail with bond set at $250,000.

The deadly incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on April 17 near the 3700 block of East 51st Street, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers arrived to find 50-year-old Terry Lindsey critically injured. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Milligan called 911 twice and told dispatchers he ran over Lindsey because he believed Lindsey was planning to rob him, according to court documents.

He also said the two had known each other for years and had recently reconnected after Lindsey moved into an apartment across the street.

Milligan told officers Lindsey had been harassing him and had stolen his wallet the day before the incident.

Surveillance footage confirmed Milligan’s actions.

“The video shows the defendant repeatedly driving at the victim as he tried to escape,” the prosecutor’s office said. “When the victim attempted to take shelter in the grass, the defendant ran over the curb onto the grass and accelerated, striking the victim with the front of his vehicle. The footage shows the victim going under the vehicle and being dragged.”
