The Sedgwick Police Department announced an arrest in connection with an attempted kidnapping that took place on the evening of Tuesday, April 15.

According to details released on Friday, Sedgwick Police Chief stated that a woman attempted to forcibly abduct a child at a practice field near a local school, but two adults intervened and stopped her.

Authorities were notified the following day, and after further investigation, a 37-year-old woman from Sedgwick was arrested. The Harvey County Attorney’s Office has charged her with attempted aggravated kidnapping.

She is currently being held in the Harvey County Jail and is awaiting her initial court appearance. Police have not released the suspect’s name or any details regarding the child’s well-being.
