The death of 97-year-old Corrye Brewer, who tragically froze to death in Colorado, is now being classified as a homicide.

Officials reported that Brewer went missing on January 24. Two days later, her body was discovered, and the cause of death was hypothermia.

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office found Brewer’s body at an abandoned home near Calhan Highway.

Brewer’s autopsy, provided by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, revealed that her daughter intentionally left her outside without a walker, phone, or means of finding shelter.

At the time she went missing, temperatures were as low as 16 degrees, with snow and wind.

“The decedent was intentionally left in the cold without any way to return home, seek proper shelter, or call for help,” the coroner’s office stated. “Given these circumstances, the manner of death is homicide.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the district attorney will review the case.
