BUFFALO – Sheriff John C. Garcia of Erie County has reported the detention of two local men and the confiscation of illegal items following a thorough narcotics investigation.
The individuals taken into custody, identified as Jay Renfro, aged 30, and Walter Hicks-Jones, aged 37, were arrested on Tuesday morning while authorities executed a search warrant issued by the State of New York at a residence located at 77 Eller Avenue in Buffalo.
This operation was orchestrated by the Narcotics and Intelligence Unit of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, with collaboration from the Intelligence Unit of the Buffalo Police Department and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
During the search of the premises, law enforcement officials uncovered over 25 milligrams of suspected psilocybin, a loaded 9mm ghost gun equipped with a high-capacity ammunition magazine, along with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Renfro and Hicks-Jones are facing numerous charges, including criminal possession of a hallucinogen with intent to distribute—a Class B felony—as well as various offenses associated with the possession of an unlawful firearm.
Both suspects have been remanded to the Erie County Holding Center while awaiting their arraignment.
