The National Weather Service in Huntsville has confirmed that three EF-1 tornadoes touched down Saturday night in the Shoals area, following a preliminary damage survey conducted Sunday.

The tornadoes were reported near Sheffield, Tuscumbia, and Aqua Vista.

  • The Aqua Vista tornado reached peak winds of 95 mph, carving a path 12.45 miles long and 250 yards wide.

  • The Sheffield tornado had peak winds of 90 mph, with a path length of 8.43 miles and a width of 275 yards.

  • The Tuscumbia tornado was the strongest, reaching 105 mph winds, traveling 12.45 miles with a width of 280 yards. Authorities reported five injuries from this storm.

Officials noted that more surveys may be conducted in the coming days to assess additional damage.
