Congressman Keith Self has introduced a bill to move the Headquarters of the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency to Texas.
The CBP Headquarters is currently situated in Washington, D.C., which is about 2,000 miles away from the southern border of the United States. Relocating the headquarters will help in decentralizing the Washington bureaucracy, cutting down operational costs for the CBP, and bringing the law enforcement agency closer to the frontline of the crisis.
Congressman Keith Self stated that the Biden administration had allowed over 10 million illegal aliens, including murderers, gang members, and suspected terrorists, to enter the country through the southern border. This decision had placed Texas as the gateway for these individuals. However, the American people expressed their strong disapproval of this crisis on November 5th, 2024, and demanded action. As a result, there is a clear mandate to address and fix the broken border. To achieve this, President Trump plans to seal the border and put a stop to the influx of illegal aliens. One practical step towards this goal is relocating the CBP HQ to Texas. This move will allow the Border Patrol agents to be present at the critical point of the crisis, ensuring effective enforcement.
