Wichita police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with a robbery that took place at a home in the 1000 block of South Ellis early Sunday morning. Victims reported being zip-tied and robbed by five individuals, one of whom was known to them.
Robert Cook, 51, was taken into custody Monday evening and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery. He remains held without bond. Cook joins three other suspects already in custody: 19-year-old Trinity Cook and 62-year-old George Bos, both charged with aggravated robbery, and 33-year-old Andrew Denning, who faces additional charges, including drug possession, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and probation violation.
After the robbery, police believe the suspects regrouped at a residence in the 13600 block of West Nantucket. Authorities set up a perimeter around the home and attempted to make contact with the individuals inside, but they did not cooperate.
“Officers set up a perimeter and attempted to speak to the individuals inside the residence to no avail,” said WPD spokesperson Andrew Ford. “At that point, SWAT and negotiations were activated.”
One suspect exited the residence and was immediately arrested, while two additional suspects were found hiding in the attic during a search of the home.
Neighbor Aaron Cruz recounted being woken up by police and advised to leave his home for safety. “They really just gave me the option to stay or leave, so we decided to leave,” he said.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and police have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community. However, investigations into the robbery are ongoing. During the incident, 135th Street between Ridgepoint and 13th was temporarily blocked off.
