Governor Kelly of Kansas mandates half-staff flags to honor President Jimmy Carter

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has issued an order for flags across Kansas to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of the late former President Jimmy Carter.

The order takes effect right away and will remain in place until sunset on January 28, 2025.

Governor Kelly expressed admiration for former President Jimmy Carter, describing him as a man of strong moral character. She highlighted his innate humanity, humility, and his commitment to serving both his community and his country. Governor Kelly also emphasized Carter’s belief in the possibility of a peaceful world, considering it a remarkable legacy that he has left behind.

Carter passed away on Sunday at the remarkable age of 100.

President Biden issued a proclamation on Sunday to formally announce the passing of former President Carter and designate January 9th as a National Day of Mourning. Additionally, Carter’s state funeral in Washington will be held on the same day.
