Kansas City Man Arrested After Threatening Bar with Gun

A Kansas City man was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly threatening a local bar’s employees and patrons with a handgun. Bryant Smith, 38, was detained around 2 a.m. on December 27 in Raytown, Missouri, following an alarming incident at a bar located on Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Court documents reveal that Smith had been asked to leave the bar earlier that evening after causing a disturbance and threatening other customers. Before departing, Smith reportedly told the staff he would return to “air out the bar.” True to his word, Smith came back to the establishment, allegedly armed with a LLAMA .380 caliber handgun, which he pointed at several individuals, including the employee who had previously asked him to leave.

As the situation escalated, the bar staff contacted the police. Hearing the sirens approach, Smith is said to have hidden the firearm under a traffic cone near the bar’s entrance. Officers later recovered the weapon, discovering a live round in the chamber and seven additional rounds in the magazine.

Smith now faces charges for unlawful use of a weapon and is currently being held in the Jackson County Detention Center with a $10,000 bond. When questioned, he declined to comment on the events.
