On Saturday, December 21, 2024, a tragic three-vehicle collision took place on Highway 50 westbound at Route F, resulting in the loss of one life and causing injuries to two individuals. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred around 7:44 p.m.

The accident included three vehicles: a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, and a 2019 Ford F-150. According to officials, the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south when it veered into the westbound lanes and crashed into the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. As a result of the collision, the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado slid and hit the 2019 Ford F-150.

An 85-year-old man from Oak Grove, Missouri, who was riding in the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado, was declared dead at 8:34 p.m. at Centerpoint Hospital by Dr. L. Byerly. Lone Jack Fire transported him.

A 54-year-old driver from Oak Grove, who was operating a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado, sustained injuries in the accident. They were transported to Centerpoint Hospital by Johnson County Ambulance District. Additionally, a 66-year-old woman from Warrensburg, Missouri, who was a passenger in the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, also suffered injuries and was taken to Centerpoint Hospital by Southern Jackson County Fire. However, the driver of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, a 66-year-old man from Sedalia, Missouri, only sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene. Lastly, the driver of the 2019 Ford F-150, a 67-year-old man from Sibley, Missouri, remained unharmed.

The crash is still under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. All vehicles involved in the accident were towed away, except for the 2019 Ford F-150, which was driven away from the scene.
