A man from Kansas City has been taken into custody in Clinton County after his arrest in the early hours of this morning.

A probable cause statement reveals that 29-year-old Skylar Springs was pulled over on Interstate 35 in Lathrop shortly after 1 am. The vehicle being driven by Springs had no license plates, and Springs himself did not possess a valid license at the time.

During the check conducted by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Springs willingly surrendered a firearm that he had in his possession. He openly acknowledged that he had an active warrant in Kansas City for property damage.

However, he declined to give permission for the vehicle to be searched. A K9 unit was then called in and successfully discovered two bags of methamphetamine. Springs confessed that the meth belonged to him while he was being held at the Clinton County Detention Center. He is now facing felony charges for unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance, as well as four misdemeanor charges. At the moment, no court date has been set.
