Biden administration set to unveil $275 million package of weapons for Ukraine

Former U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta appeared on ‘Your World’ to discuss President Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to launch long-range U.S. missiles into Russian territory.

According to a U.S. official, the Biden administration is set to unveil a weapons package worth $275 million for Ukraine this week.

The weapons will be sourced from U.S. stockpiles and delivered to Ukraine at a faster pace compared to a Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) package. This is made possible through the presidential drawdown authority (PDA) funds.

The official confirmed that the weapons package will consist of various equipment, including the High Mobility Artillery Rocket (HIMAR) system. However, it will not include HIMAR ammunition. Additionally, the package will contain 155 mm artillery shells, drones, and Javelin surface-to-air missiles.

After the announcement regarding the weapons package, the United States will still have $6.9 billion in PDA funding and $2.21 billion in USAI funding available for Ukraine.

Ukraine has reportedly launched its first attack on Russia, firing a series of long-range missiles that were supplied by the United States. According to the Kremlin, this marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two countries.

In order to address Ukraine’s pressing needs, the United States allocated an extra $425 million in supplies and weapons through PDA funds. This assistance primarily focused on bolstering Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, providing air-to-ground weaponry, rocket systems, artillery munitions, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons.

Just two days ago, President Biden gave his approval for Ukraine to utilize American long-range missiles on Russian soil. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously made it clear that any such action would be deemed an act of war. The latest package arrives at a crucial moment, aligning perfectly with recent developments.

On Tuesday, Moscow accused Ukrainian forces of exploiting Biden’s approval and launching six U.S.-made Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) into Russian territory.

Trump’s initial selections for his cabinet are far from being isolationists, which has brought a sense of relief to Ukraine and Israel.

A Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was test-fired from the Plesetsk launch pad in northwestern Russia, according to the Russian Defense Ministry Press Service.

According to Russia, they successfully intercepted five of the missiles and caused damage to a sixth one. They further reported that the debris from the missiles fell in the vicinity of a Russian military facility, but fortunately, there were no injuries or significant damage, except for a minor fire.

According to a U.S. official, Fox News has received confirmation of the overnight strike.

During a briefing on Tuesday, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh informed reporters that the war between Russia and Ukraine had intensified. She revealed that Russia had deployed over 11,000 soldiers from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea, to join their forces in the Kursk region.

Documents have recently come to light that highlight Russia’s initial “peace deal” with Ukraine, which was essentially equivalent to Ukraine’s surrender. This revelation sheds new light on the negotiations between the two countries and raises concerns about Russia’s intentions. The documents show that Russia’s proposed terms were heavily skewed in their favor, leaving Ukraine with little choice but to accept unfavorable conditions. This discovery underscores the need for continued scrutiny of Russia’s actions and reinforces the importance of supporting Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty.

In addition, she mentioned that the Biden administration is dedicated to providing Ukraine with the necessary military equipment for combat.

Singh stated that they do not view it as escalatory but rather as a commitment that they had made from the start of their administration.

According to the Department of Defense (DOD), there is a possibility of an increased presence of North Korean troops in Russia. The DOD believes that more troops could potentially be deployed to the area, although it is important to note that there are already over 11,000 DPRK soldiers currently stationed with Russian forces.

According to Singh, the movement of forces into the Kursk region indicates a clear intention to engage Ukrainian forces.
