Teen from Garden City arrested for making threat against school

A 14-year-old student was arrested by the Garden City police on Monday after an investigation into a school threat.

According to the police, a student at Kenneth Henderson Middle School allegedly made a potential criminal threat, which was reported to a school resource officer.

Throughout the investigation, it was found that the student did not comply with the instructions given by KHMS staff or the officer and even attempted to physically assault the officer. As a result, the student was apprehended and taken into custody.

During the incident, as a safety measure, the school went into a temporary lockdown.

The teenager was sent to the Southwest Kansas Juvenile Detention Center for charges of aggravated criminal threat, assault on a law enforcement officer, and interference with law enforcement.
