Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-435 Near Midland Drive Causes Injuries and Traffic Delays

A tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 435 near Midland Drive caused a multi-vehicle collision and significant traffic delays on Monday morning. Around 11:40 a.m., the Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the tractor-trailer lost control in the northbound lanes, crashing through a concrete median in a construction area. The semi then struck two vehicles traveling southbound before catching fire in the median.

The Shawnee Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the flames. One person sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Multiple agencies, including the Kansas Highway Patrol, Shawnee Fire and Police Departments, Lenexa Fire Department, and Johnson County MED-ACT, responded to the scene. The crash, along with the investigation and debris removal, led to significant traffic congestion in both directions. The area was cleared by 4:15 p.m.
