Man killed, woman arrested in Midtown Kansas City homicide

A Thursday afternoon shooting in Midtown Kansas City has left one man dead and a woman in custody after she allegedly admitted to firing the fatal shot. Kansas City police responded to the incident around 1 p.m. at a business located in the 300 block of Linwood Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers were approached by a woman who informed them that someone had been shot and admitted to being the shooter.

First responders found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the business’s parking lot. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have identified the victim as 34-year-old Waleed Shaban.

As the investigation unfolds, police have not released further details regarding the events leading up to the shooting or the relationship between the suspect and victim.
