A Missouri man who was arrested in Freeborn County with over 300 grams of cocaine has entered a plea of not guilty.
The trial for Kevin Eugene Jordan, a 37-year-old resident of Kansas City, MO, is scheduled to commence on March 31, 2025. Jordan is facing charges of first-degree possession of cocaine, receiving stolen property, and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office received a notification at approximately 2:25 am on September 8 regarding a stolen vehicle that was seen driving without its lights on on southbound Interstate 35. A deputy quickly located the suspect vehicle, positioned his car behind it, and activated his emergency lights. However, despite the deputy’s efforts, the suspect vehicle continued to drive recklessly, constantly changing lanes and reaching speeds ranging from 70 to 120 miles per hour.
Law enforcement officers strategically placed stop sticks on the road, and the vehicle ran over them when it reached the intersection of Interstate 35 and Interstate 90. Despite this setback, the suspect vehicle persisted and kept driving until a deputy successfully maneuvered it into the west ditch.
According to investigators, it was Jordan who was behind the wheel of the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered a total of 348 grams of cocaine.
