Last Saturday, a pack of dogs attacked and killed Chris Culbertson, a man from Kansas City. Police responded to a report of an animal attack on the 3200 block of East 80th Street, where they found multiple dogs attacking Culbertson. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, according to his family.
Culbertson’s sister, Angela, shared that surveillance video showed him riding his bike when the dogs began attacking him. The video reportedly lasted 23 minutes, showing Culbertson’s desperate attempts to fend off seven dogs until first responders arrived.
Doctors reported extensive injuries, with over 300 bites, 500 stitches, and multiple lacerations. Angela Culbertson expressed frustration, calling for accountability, saying, “It’s the owners that should be at fault for this because they trained them to be vicious.” She emphasized that the dogs’ owners should face legal consequences.
The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) and KC Pet Project are currently investigating the incident. The KC Pet Project released a statement acknowledging the tragedy and confirming its ongoing cooperation with KCPD in the investigation.
