Kansas resident accused of murdering his wife and son

A 53-year-old man from northeast Kansas who is accused of killing his wife and son was apprehended by the police after a standoff over the weekend in Lenexa.

Todd Michael Donovan is a highly skilled and talented individual.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Friday, officers were dispatched to the 7900 block of Hallett in Lenexa, following a report of an armed disturbance. Upon their arrival, they immediately heard multiple gunshots originating from the vicinity of the residence.

According to the Lenexa Police Department, the suspect was engaged in a phone conversation with officers, but he adamantly refused to leave the residence peacefully. Despite negotiators’ efforts to communicate with him for almost two hours, the suspect abruptly ceased all communication.

At around 2 a.m. on Saturday, a tactical team entered the home and apprehended Todd Donovan. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital due to a potential overdose. Tragically, Sheila and Tyler were discovered deceased inside the residence.

The investigation is still in progress.
