During a routine traffic stop involving a Dodge Ram pickup truck, law enforcement officers uncovered an astonishing 175 lbs of methamphetamine. During a routine traffic stop on IH-35 in Webb County, Texas, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) made a significant drug discovery. A staggering $5 million worth of methamphetamine was uncovered concealed within a pickup truck.
A Mexican citizen has been apprehended and accused of felony possession of a controlled substance after law enforcement officers seized 175 pounds of methamphetamine. The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated to be around $5,712,000.
Surprisingly, the drug was discovered concealed in an outdated Dodge Ram truck. It’s quite astonishing considering that these older, stripped-down models don’t offer much room for concealment. However, law enforcement stumbled upon the methamphetamine hidden within a deceptive compartment in the truck bed, consisting of 57 bundles meticulously wrapped in cellophane.
The Dodge Ram pickup truck underwent a name change in 2009, becoming the Ram 1500. As per Newsweek, individuals found in possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine could potentially face a maximum sentence of two years in jail, along with a fine of up to $10,000.
In Texas, possessing methamphetamine can lead to severe consequences, as the state has established strict penalties for such offenses. The harshest penalties are imposed on individuals found with quantities exceeding 400 grams.
If individuals are found in possession of more than 400 grams of illegal substances, they can be sentenced to 10 to 99 years in prison and fined up to $100,000.
