Vigil held in KCMO’s Northeast neighborhood to remember man who was killed

Residents in the historic Northeast area of Kansas City, Missouri are demanding answers following the death of a man killed in October.

Jonathan Rodgers, a 35-year-old man, tragically lost his life after sustaining injuries from blunt force trauma. He was found in the 3700 block of Independence Avenue and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Rodgers succumbed to his injuries.

Unfortunately, he passed away at the hospital.

According to Rodgers’ family, he had faced homelessness at times, but was actively working towards finding stable housing before his untimely death.

A candlelight vigil was held on Monday night to remember him.

According to a representative from the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, there have been no recent developments in the case. However, the detectives are diligently conducting an ongoing investigation.
