Three individuals were taken into custody in Garden City in the early hours of Sunday morning for driving under the influence, according to authorities.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Garden City Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on E. Kansas Avenue in the 2400 block. After conducting an investigation, they discovered that the driver, 40-year-old Author Hight, was driving under the influence. Subsequently, Hight was arrested and taken to the Finney County Jail.
The GCPD reported that another arrest took place at 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of E. Spruce Street. Officers discovered 23-year-old Edward Gutierrez-Pablo, who was not only driving under the influence but had also been involved in a hit-and-run accident before being stopped by the police.
Gutierrez-Pablo faced arrest and was transported to the Finney County Jail on charges of DUI and hit-and-run.
At approximately 5:10 a.m., officers successfully apprehended 29-year-old Gilberto Carrillo in the 300 block of W. Maple Street during a traffic stop.
After conducting an investigation, the Garden City police determined that Carrillo had been driving under the influence. Consequently, he was arrested and taken to the Finney County Jail on charges of DUI.
The police department emphasized the importance of community involvement in ensuring road safety. In a social media post, they urged people to refrain from drinking and driving, stating, “We will continue to patrol our roads to maintain safety, but we also need your cooperation. If you consume alcohol, please refrain from getting behind the wheel.”
