The state emphasized the importance of taking proactive measures to address any potential challenges and ensure prompt and effective responses. According to a media release, this is just one of the many steps being taken to ensure that all necessary resources are readily available.
The state has announced that in case the need arises, these activated personnel will be able to lend a hand with traffic enforcement, major weather events, communication, and other requirements from local law enforcement.
Governor Lombardo announced that, after extensive consultations with stakeholders throughout the state, he has made the decision to activate the National Guard as a precautionary measure. He clarified that while the deployment of these personnel is not anticipated, their activation is deemed necessary at this time.
“As a first responder, I know first-hand the importance of being prepared, and this decision reflects my commitment to safety and preparedness on Election Day. As always, I am deeply grateful to the men and women of our National Guard, and I appreciate their service to our state and country.”
Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar expressed his alignment with the governor’s dedication to ensuring safety, preparedness, and transparency.
“This proactive decision ensures that we have maximized our available resources throughout Nevada. Our election officials and law enforcement leaders have been diligently preparing for the November 5 election for several years. This action allows them to allocate their resources more effectively on Election Day, enabling them to concentrate on delivering a secure and safe election,” stated Secretary Aguilar.
