Gov. Ivey deploys more than 100 Hartselle soldiers to the southern border

Governor Kay Ivey announced on Friday that a new deployment of Alabama soldiers is being sent to the southern border.

The governor’s office has announced that the U.S.-Mexico border will soon be secured by an additional 125 soldiers from the 152nd Military Police Company in Hartselle.

The deployment is expected to last around 400 days, during which the mission will provide crucial support to customs and border operations.

Alabama currently has a total of 269 soldiers serving in two military units. The Mobile-headquartered 226th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and the 158th Surface Maintenance Company headquartered in Tallassee are both contributing to the state’s military force.

According to the governor’s office, both companies are currently in the process of returning from the mission in phases.

“Securing the Southern Border has not been a priority for the Biden-Harris Administration over the past four years, which has resulted in severe consequences for every state. Governor Ivey reassures that Alabama will do everything possible to aid in the mission of securing our Border. She expresses her gratitude to the 125 Alabama soldiers and their families for their invaluable service to our country. These soldiers will be assisting in Customs and Border Protection operations.”

According to the governor’s office, Governor Ivey has successfully led the deployment of more than 500 Alabama National Guard soldiers and equipment to the Border.
