South Carolina sets new one-day voting record – again

South Carolina voters made history on Tuesday by casting a record number of ballots in a single day during the early voting period. This milestone comes just one day after the previous record was set.

127,792 voters participated in the election on Tuesday, surpassing the attendance of Monday by over 1,000 people, as reported by the South Carolina State Election Commission.

On November 4, 2022, a record-breaking number of 70,100 ballots were cast in a single day, surpassing the previous record.

Over the past week, North Carolina and Georgia have also witnessed voters setting similar records.

Over 254,000 voters have already participated in the early voting period within the first two days.

With over a week of early voting still to go, the number of early votes cast in 2022 has already surpassed half of the total 561,563 votes.

Turnout in Charleston County has reached its peak, with a record-breaking 24,599 voters casting their ballots over a two-day period. On Tuesday alone, 12,311 voters exercised their right to vote, surpassing Monday’s turnout of the same number.

In the Upstate, Greenville saw a significant turnout of 20,832 voters over two days, while Spartanburg also had a substantial showing of 12,819 voters over the same time period.

Voter turnout increased on Tuesday in both counties compared to Monday.
