Texas Man Receives 22-Year Sentence for Conspiring to Import Methamphetamine

Joshua Ruben Olivencia, 34, of Killeen, Texas, has been sentenced to 264 months (22 years) in federal prison for his involvement in a conspiracy to transport methamphetamine into the United States from Mexico.

The scheme came to an end when authorities caught Olivencia and his co-conspirators at a Del Rio hotel on August 1, 2020. Bibiana Ira Ortiz’s vehicle had 7.86 kilograms of meth stashed in its door panels, according to Customs and Border Protection officials.

Olivencia was a prominent figure in the enterprise, trafficking methamphetamine throughout central Texas, including Austin, Killeen, Temple, and Belton.

He had built a network of distributors in the region. Olivencia and David Ray Coplin drove to Del Rio to meet with Ortiz and Jimmie Troy Palmer III. Olivencia gave Palmer $18,500 to purchase methamphetamine in Mexico.
