A Pennsylvania state police officer was stabbed to death on a hiking trail.

A police officer from Pennsylvania lost his life after being stabbed on a public cycling trail, as reported by local law enforcement officials.

The Allegheny County Police Department was notified on Monday about an injured male found near the Montour Trail in Moon Township shortly before 3:00 p.m. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 44-year-old male with a stab wound.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals declared him deceased.

Police later charged Pittsburgh resident Anthony Quesen, 25, with murder. The Allegheny County Jail is holding him pending his arraignment.

According to The National News Desk, state police have confirmed the identity of the victim as Benjamin Brallier, a liquor enforcement officer.

“The Pennsylvania State Police is deeply saddened to announce the heartbreaking loss of our esteemed Liquor Enforcement Officer Benjamin Brallier, who tragically lost his life in a fatal stabbing incident while off-duty yesterday,” stated Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris. “Officer Brallier, with his commendable 20-year service, epitomized the qualities of an outstanding officer and was a dedicated father and husband.”

The Montour School District cheerleading team launched a GoFundMe page on Tuesday to help the Brallier family get through “these trying days.” That fundraising had raised more than $13,000 as of Tuesday afternoon. Another effort to provide food to the family raised more than $2,800.
